1 About the artist

Micol Hebron is an interdisciplinary artist. She has done many collaborative projects in Los Angeles. As well she is an Associate Professor of Art at Chapman University. In the past she was a Cheif Curator at the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art, The director of the UCLA Summer Art Institute and much more. She employs strategies to support and participate in feminist dialogues in art and in life.

2 Formal Analysis

She created a digital pasty of an male nipple that people could use to cover up female nipples since they always have to be censored. The point of this is to put it over the female nipples so they can not report the post since it is covered in a male nipple since those are acceptable. In other words, she knew that people would report and it would ban the post. From this, her work went viral.

3 Content Analysis

The whole point of this was to help push gender equality since men nipples are allowed to be shown but women nipples can not. Replacing the nipples on the female with male nipples was supposed to make the post allowed, but since it is a female, they still did not allow it. They probably still wont allow it for a long time due to the fact that their will always be people arguing that one gender is better than the other.

4 Synthesis/ My Experience

Her whole presentation on zoom was very unexpected. I seen things that I did not want to see and it made me uncomfortable. I only stood in class since we have to have our faces shown for our attendance. I did not want to see her body at all, but that is what art is so I guess it is acceptable that she showed us. She is trying to make both genders equal which is understandable, but like maybe she could of done it in a different way next time.
